Sure, you can take a track from a great album and it works on the radio, but that doesn't mean that is how the music should be listened to.
Maybe that is the divide between the casual, top-40 loving music fan, and the music snobs? I hear people say all the time "Oh, I don't want to spend $20 on an album that has only one or two songs I like on it." None of the music snob people I know ever say that, because the music they are in to is about albums, not hit songs.

I know I am tired, but off the top of my head, I can't think of any really good "albums" since CDs were introduced. And the disdain shown for AC/DC here will probably invalidate my reply that I think Back In Black was a great "album". Haven't heard its peer since.
As it is with each generation, and down to each individual, something just clicks. Some "album" does it for them for some reason. Some are more capable of enduring the filler than others who prefer the meat. C'est la vie. Call yourself snobs or whatnot. Doesn't bother me. In my perspective, the songs make the album, not the other way around. One of my favourite albums was actually a soundtrack, from Heavy Metal. Some great songs that worked well from one to another. One Shania Twain album comes to mind as being quite good as a whole as well. Mutt Lange (of AC/DC fame) produced.... hmmm... always thought that was an odd paring.
And for the record in this thread, I have never really been a fan of:
Pink Floyd
Led Zepplin
Rush
although I can appreciate some of their works.
The White Stripes? Puhhhhleaaaase. Kill them. Kill them now.
As for Radiohead, go listen to Weird Al's "One More Minute". Pretty much sums up what I would prefer to do than listen to them.
