You could really turn that into an incentive to not strike out. Whenever someone strikes out they get the scarf until someone else on the team strikes out and so-forth. At the end of the game whoever is wearing the scarf has to cover the tab at Pete's that night or failing that brings the next case of beer to the next practice/game.
Kinda like the 'snake' concept in golf, except that comes with an added twist of randomness. When my buddies go out and play golf we bring along a rubber snake. Whoever is the last person to three-put gets the snake and so-forth. So whenever the beer girl comes by, whoever has the snake has to cover the round and whoever has it at the turn buys snacks and drinks, and whoever has it at the end gets hit up for the 19th hole. After that has been introduced my putting ability has increased dramatically.
