fotze's right. almost always (and especially highways) roads are sloped away from the centre for drainage so that water doesn't pond on the road. The typical slope is 2%. This should cause your car to drift towards the ditch if you let go of the steering wheel, provided it's not too windy and your wheel alignment is decent.
