Actually some warranties are indeed transferrable. Of the ones you mentioned:
Subaru - US Warranty is valid, but you have to pay the Canadian dealer for warranty work and the reclaim form the US. Refunds will only be at set US rates for that job, and as Canadian Subaru dealers charge more for shop work, you could be out of pocket a tad. *See notes*. Subaru Added Security Extended Warranty honoured in Canada after basic 3 year expirs, with direct payment (ie don't need to pay and get reimbursed)
Toyota: - Yes, and extended warranty also transfers.
www.toyotawarrantyinfo.com has some significant savings over buying it at the dealer.
Was there a Toyota dealer there willing to sell a new vehicle to Canadians? That's the hitch - warrantly is transferrable but Toyota USA has forbid their dealers from selling to Canadians under a big threat.
