That’s an easy one. They’re one step down from the Christians or so-called “religious” people who will preach at a complete stranger for nothing. They are right in the fact that as a Christian your life should be an example to others, not any preaching you do to them. So they felt that picking you up was something that would make a bigger impression on you than anything they said.

Of course then they realized (naturally) that non-Christians can be nice people and do good deeds too, so they added the “Jesus loves you” to tell you what made them to what they did. But they didn’t ask you about your spiritual life or tell you anything that you should be doing (ie preaching) so I don’t think what they did should really piss you off.

That being said, as a Christian I would do the same thing (I hope) but I haven’t and probably wouldn’t add the comment in there at the end unless someone asked (ie “why are you doing this for me?”)
