Definitely buy one w/out the BBQ. I have a BBQ, and still use my foreman fairly often. Best thing ever for bacon!!!
make sure you buy a big one though. I have a small one which sucks, because it really can only cook 1 burger/steak at a time (possibly two depending on size).
The ripoffs are good, a few of my friends have them (hamilton beach I think they're called).
