My tips for buying anything off eBay; especially electronic:
- Check feedback. I'd suggest a minimum of 50 feedbacks over more than 1 year. And a rating of 99.5% or higher.
- As mentioned Paypal only, and make sure to fund Paypal with a credit card. (give you a second recourse if the deal goes south.)
- Pay for insurance on shipping.
- Be careful if the person has a "stock" photo. Seller should have a picture they have taken themselves.
- Ask seller a question before buying. Anything. Don't hide your email address from the seller. This tests their communications level and establishes a raport.
- Read the entire description. Like the guys selling the empty PS2 cardboard boxes; they did nothing wrong. Because if I had promised little Timmy a PS2 for Christmas and couldn't get one; I would have paid $20 for the empty box it came in so I could have wrapped something.
- If it sounds too good to be true, ask yourself how they could be doing this. Not long ago a friend asked me to buy an Xbox 360 for her for $100. In the description it stated "non functioning; likely needs minor repair." Those of you with Xboxs know those were likely a liquidation of all the dead ones Microsoft got back.
