The only commericals that ran that I can recall were Stemachs and the "no plan for Alberta" ones, which advertised no alternative. I bet over half of Albertans had no idea who Taft even was and probably still don't.

I saw those anti-Stelmach ads on Sportsnet and I didn't even know they were Liberal campaign ads. Not only did they not mention Taft, but they didn't even mention the party name.
Is "liberal" such a bad word that they would be afraid to even say it in an ad? It's like they wanted you to go to some non-descript website, convince you that their ideas were good, and say; "SURPRISE, we're Liberals!".
Honest question here... but how many die-hard PCers in Alberta would purposely go to a Liberal website, read a Liberal pamphlet, or invite a Liberal campaigner into their home? I agree that it is partly up to the Party to get their message out there, but it is also up to responsible citizens to educate themselves. Let's face it, the Liberal and NDP parties are practically "fringe" parties in Alberta. They can't advertise as much as the PCs, and the PCs themselves don't really need to.
I get the sense that many PCers are loyal to the point that they aren't going to go out of their way to find out about other parties, and they rely on word of mouth from other PCers or the National Post to fill them in.
