If a parent can not assert control over their toddler, they aren't good parents. Period.
You don't approve of a smack on the ass if the kids do something very stupid/dangerous/disrespectful. Fine. If having a fireside chat with a 3 year old works everytime, you must have some good genes. Don't go hooting at everyone who disagrees with your outlook and finds a different means of parenting that is effective.
