Absinthe.
The real stuff; not any low percentage fake garbage that was passed off as authentic despite having levels as low as 45%.
One reason I like it is because it can take the edge off any week no matter how stressful it may have been.
The other reason I like it is that it takes some gumption to drink an alcohol so notorious that it is banned in several countries.

Which of the imported ones do you find are the best? All I can ever find are the czech ones like Hills which taste kinda foul to me, or the Pernod one which tastes, well, a little too much like Pernod. I really like Spanish absinthe with it's slight lemony flavour, but I haven't been able to find any in stores.

What exactly do those store-boughts do to you?
I drank some homemade stuff once, very little of it, and the effects weren't at all like I get from drinking anything else. More like smoking something else which I find to be disgusting, but this absinthe wasn't. [/b][/quote]
Storebought ones should have similar effects. What you were probably feeling from the homemade one that you had was wormwood, or rather a chemical called thujone that is found in wormwood. Thujone is a neurotoxin, and like Reaper says, has similar effects to THC. The EU has a legal limit of thujone of 10mg/L. The original recipe from the 1700s contained between 30 to 60 mg/L, while apparently some of the absinthe drank by parisian bohemians contained as much as 250mg/L. So a homemade one could have had a much greater density of thujone than storebought ones, but the effects should be similar.
Reaper: I haven't tried Staroplzenecky. I'll admit I'm into absinthe equally for the taste as for the light show, so I might not like the same kinds you do, but if I ever come across it I'll give it a try!
