I have one of the launch 60gb PS3's, which I think run hotter than the current versions. I have had no heat problems, even though it seems to run quite warm.

At one time, I had it running full tilt for 4 weeks, 24 hours a day, doing the Folding at Home. It uses all the processors. I dont think failure due to heat on the PS3 is any problem at all.
