I think it should be legalized (I don't smoke it btw) but that being said it is currently illegal so the police have to do their job to get rid of these vermin.# There is no excuse whatsoever for the actions.

Yeah, the war of drugs has been fought for years, and lost for the most part. Perhaps it is time to take a serious look at making this a legitimized bussiness and take the big profit end out of it for these grow ops, or at least be able to tax them heavily.
Really when someone sparks one up once a week for home use it looks harmless for the most part, and doesn't seem like a big deal does it? I know before today, I never thought of it that way, at least not in Canada. And really, the cops aren't going to go after that person, that's not who they want. They want to get to the root of the problem, but everytime someone uses this ILLEGAL substance they get it from someone, who either got it from someone else, or grew their own. But in reflection I look back and realize that every time I consumed, or watched someone else consume mj it was creating demand for something illegal. Somewhere this demand has made someone go to these extremes to protect their illegal property, and in my own province none the less. But how many people have suffered like this in other countries in similar stings over the years? Sure it's a bit of an extreme view to take on the issue....But try and explain your point of view to the families of the 4 officers killed in the line of duty today. (Kowoflang that is, not Fotze)
I should add that I do read books, and ironically I just took a trip to Vancouver last week (shocking I know) and that I have been to places like Amsterdam and South America with reputations for either growing or consuming illegal substances by North American standards. But consider this, if no one smoked pot in Canada or the U.S. would these grow ops be able to thrive???
