Question From A Canadian I Am Only Slightly Ashamed To Ask
What exactly is the Homecoming Queen? For that matter, what the hell is "Homecoming"?
I've heard of these things, mostly through American movies, and I've never really understood them. Or at least I don't think my understanding is correct.
It appears to me that the Homecoming Queen is just some hot local chick who gets the title and maybe a crown and perhaps a ride on a float? Is that right? If so, who picks her to be the Homecoming Queen? And "Homecoming" itself, it looks like a big deal, but what is it? I think it's connected to football and a "Homecoming Game", but that's about all I can figure.
Sorry for derailing this thread (if I did) but I had to ask.
