Obviously it's a very skewed study, but not entirely useless. Would it be safe to say that universities with a very high african american population have lower test scores? I would infer that from the low rankings for both african american literature and hip hop music. But if that's the case, it's interesting that while african american literature is universally low, hip hop music has some scores moving toward the middle of the graph; reflective, of course, of how music is much more able to cross cultural and social boundaries than literature.
Sci-fi/fantasy did much better than I thought it would.
Distopian did much worse than I expected (though really, shouldn't Brave New World be included in Distopian rather than Sci-fi?).
I'm not sure if the results of erotica being the worst genre are surprising or not. Probably not.
It's interesting that the two highest-ranked books deal with pedophilia and incest. I'm guessing that has more to do with the policies of institutions: both are excellent books, but have subject matter that probably keeps them off the ciriculum and even out of the libraries in some cases. A test-score focused institution is likely to promote these books on the grounds of their superior writing.
Also interesting if somewhat inexplicable that the bible and the holy bible have such widely different scores.
