Why? If it is true it would shake the Patriots and the NFL to the core. I could see Belichek being banned from the NFL, which means no Hall of Fame. It would seriously hurt the chances of the great Patriots players of getting into the Hall of Fame. The legitimacy of the Patriots three Lombardi Trophies would be in doubt.
From a league standpoint, I think Goddell would be forced to resign. Like the ESPN article stated. If true, this would be the biggest sports scandal since the 1919 Black Sox. The main players in that scandal never lived it down.
