I did 36 hours without sleep recently. It was due to a combination of me flying to Hawaii and having insomnia the night before i left.. The trick was to keep moving and make sure i had lots of caffene in my system.
Other times it happened when i was working graveyard shifts. Could never sleep during the day so i often went the work week with maybe an hours sleep between shifts. On my days off i usually slept 14 hours to catch up.
Most nights i need a good 8 hours of sleep.
