Tangent: I had a lovely conversation with a petty thief a couple of weeks back who explained to me that most of the stuff he bought, he bought down in the skids from crackheads. His approach was simply to offer them $5 no matter what it was they were trying to sell, since $5 is the standard price for a hit, and crackheads really just measure value in hits, rather than dollars. Said he'd bought all sorts of good stuff, including an iPod video, still in the box.
If I see him, I'll ask about your extension cords. Is it worth $5 to you to get them back?
