I viewed the Roe v. Wade question as giving the power to decide the stance on abortion back to the people rather than have the decision based on the constitutional interpretation and moral beliefs of 9 justices.

Which side of the issue you are on is inconsequential, IMO... I think abortion is too big and divisive of an issue to be decided by such a small group. Pro-choice people would agree is Roe v. Wade was decided 5-4 the other way. Let the states decide either through their elected officials, or preferably, a referendum.
