My Condo Neighbors Mistakenly Believe They Are Living In A House
So, last night at 1:15 am our condo neighbors start playing their music loud enough to wake up my wife and I. The head of our bed is against the wall shared with their living room. Even though this has happened before I give them a few minutes grace in the event that they have suffered temporary ######ation and might come to their senses.
At 1:30 am I decide that I've had enough, get dressed, and put on my shoes, coat, gloves & toque. Since our condo complex has no common hallways I am forced to go outside in -35 C weather to go knock on their door. I come to their door and I can clearly hear Avril Lavigne playing (what self respecting guy plays Avril Lavigne at near deafening levels in the middle of the night?) when I bang on their door.
When the door opens, I look at the guy and say "Are you kidding me? It's 1:30 in the morning!" with the thought he would obviously "get it." He replies "We hear doors swinging off the hinges..." and trails off (probably because of the fuming look I'm giving him. I tell him "I don't care, turn it down." He agrees to and I hear him passive-aggressively mumble "######" in an annoyed fashion as he closes the door.
As I'm trying to get back to sleep both my wife and I notice that after he turned the music down it has started to creep back up so at 2 am I go and pound on his door again. When he opens it, I say "It's 2 o'clock in the morning. I have to get up for work in two and a half hours." He replies "I'll shut it down" and I go back to my place.
My wife tells me that after I fell back asleep the guy's roommate came home and they turned the music back on to levels audible in our apartment. So, she didn't get any sleep for the rest of the night and feels like garbage today.
What do you guys think I should do? My thought is that I should register a complaint with the condo board and let things take their course.
If it happens again tonight I'm just going to call the police and let them sort it out.
