The suicide debate seems to be somewhat polarizing. Personally, I feel awful for the families and friends involved. I don't feel the animosity or disappointment that many usually direct towards the deceased in these situations. I feel terrible for them, as mental illness just isn't something that can be understood until you've worn the shoes.
There are many people out there who have od'd on medication and been out of it the entire time, not knowing what they were doing. For this reason I have a hard time just labeling somebody as selfish when the actual circumstance could be far more complicated.
Of course we don't know the details of how it occurred. Perhaps he planned it all out or perhaps he was inebriated to the point where didn't realize the harm he was doing to himself. Either way, a great tragedy in my eyes.
