So here's the situation.

On our main floor, we have our Shaw router that is plugged into a wireless router. My room is in the basement and i want to hook up my desktop to the internet so I bought another wireless router.

First question: will this wireless router downstairs connect to the wireless router on our main floor, which is plugged into our Shaw? And if not, how would i go about so?

Secod question: I was trying to hook up the new router in the basement and it asked me for my IP address. Probably a really dumb question, but where do i find this?
