That sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for -- you can bring your modem with you in your laptop bag and plug it in anywhere to get a signal. It uses cell phone towers and the speed is almost as good as dsl or cable. I have it for my ISP at home and it's been great -- decent speed for browsing, torrent downloading, and I can even play multiplayer PC and Xbox Live games without lag.

The downside is you'd have to change your email address, but just get a Gmail account and you're good for life anyway, regardless of what ISP you're with.
