I'm kind of a sushi snob...though that has only come recently. Sushi Ichiban is a good place to go if you are going for all you can eat. If not taking advantage of that, I'd steer clear of this restaurant. The exact same goes for Sushi BBQ inn. Wasabi on 16th ave I've also found pretty poor.
If you want very tasty sushi, the two I would recommend would be Wa's which is right across from the old regal beagle on center street, or globefish on 14th. Wa's is by far my favorite though. I've heard good things about sushi towa in the south, but I have not made it there yet and they have had an ownership change in the last year or two and might not be as good as they used to be.
I realize these probably aren't close by which is what you might have wanted, I just had to chime in with my opinion because...well...I freaking love sushi.
