I find this is often the opposite. The employees in the customer service related industries have the "me" attitude and it gets in the way of providing good service.
I'm nothing but courtious to people in places like Tim's, yet I probably get treated with the same disregard as the a-holes. Eventually I am just going to give up and be a prick since it probably doesn't matter.
I often work 12-16 hour days for a couple of weeks straight, so forgive me if I go to Tim's and don't want to get jacked around by someone who is upset because they haven't had their 15 minute break yet.
