I know we had to get rid of Rolen with his relationship with La Russa but I was hoping we could get something better than a roided up shell of a player.
Rolen was still good defensively last year but injuries and a slow bat really hurt him at the plate. He always has swung at bad pitches but now does not have the ability to turn them into hits, or at times even reach them, like he used to. Part was due to his injury and part was due to him just not being the same hitter. With the surgery he should be better but will never return to the hitter he was in his prime.
Glaus of course will continue to deteriorate now that he can no longer juice up.
I don't like the fact that the Cards are giving up money considering one of the big factors was dumping Rolens big deal. I guess Glaus has one less year on his bad deal so maybe that allows the Cards more flexibility at that time.
