Weir wasn't as solid tee to green but was able to pull out some real clutch par save putts. If that putting keeps up he'll have an awesome year. He seemed to struggle on the weekend with his 100 yards and in shots - something which he is usually one of the best at. He'll be fine.

Ames though really impressed me. He always seems to play better on the more difficult courses. It would not surprise me at all to see him win a major this year, or a couple of regular wins at tough courses.

I'm excited for both. Good start.
Yeah, Wier needs a good year this year...thanks to Player selecting him for the Presidents Cup, and the run he got there, and this result, he seems to be back in grasp of the crucial confidence necessary on the PGA Tour.

Ames is a bit of an eccentric, always seems to have been. Nice enough guy, just has that bit of an attitude which makes you wonder sometimes if he really cares that much about winning week in and week out. Reminds me of a guy that probably used to try so hard to win and got nothing, and then starting relaxing and not getting so stressed, and played better. But its hard to count on a carefree attitude, so now, if everything goes for him in a week, he's up there, if not, he's still happy with things.

And just watching those highlights just makes me want to head back to Maui next week.
