I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's a little difficult to understand why the hiring process would take so long but it's even more frustrating when you work here and need help and it takes six months to get it.

I applied in early August last year and had applied in three different divisions. Two of them contacted me for interviews within two weeks of the job closing dates but the last one (the one I really wanted) didn't call me until a month after the closing. My first day on the job wasn't until February 8th this year.

As far as calling goes, I'd go ahead and find out what's going on. That online application thing was a bit of a joke and most people here understand that and would happily let you know where you stand.
