The Last Meal Game: What would your final meal be like?
I was reading one of Anthony Bourdain's books (he's a chef if you don't know who he is) and he frequently mentions playing the "Last Meal Game" with other chefs. The surprising thing is that these world class chefs almost never say they want "seared fois gras with peach chutney", or something fancy. Instead, something simple often comes up.
So let's play the game:
If you knew you were going to die soon, and you had one last chance to taste food, what would your last meal be? (drink/appetizer/main course/dessert)
Stating what it is isn't good enough, though. Why? Would you cook it yourself or have someone else do it? (It could be anything cooked by anyone anywhere on earth!) Would you eat it with friends or family or by yourself? Would you want music playing (even a live band), or silence? Anything else?
Here's mine:
It would be on the coast of Amalfi in Italy (a place I've never been to but always wanted to go). All my friends, and my parents would be there. The Tragically Hip (my favourite band) would be playing live, as well.
I'd be drinking Guinness (my first pint of beer ever was one)and I'd start with a good steak Caesar (Alberta beef, of course), because I love a truly good Caesar salad.I'd prepare that myself, because I love to cook. Then my parents would take over. The main course would be my dad's cabbage rolls, which we always have on holidays. Those are pure happiness for me. Lastly, I'd finish off with some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies made by my mom, because that was the ultimate dish of my childhood.
That's mine.
