Without going into the details of the Criminal Code, he will receive a life sentence in respect of each count (the judge will consider the murders together for the purpose of determining a sentence for each), and he will not be eligible for parole for at least 10 years due to his conviction on Murder 2. It's basically a lock that he will also get dangerous offender status - which means he can be held in prison indefinitely. While he has yet to be sentenced, it's pretty much a certainty he'll never be outside of jail again.

The Courts really really frown on gating though. It's seen as an abusive process, with all sorts of potential Charter implications. Not that it will matter though, he's never getting out.
As for whether there'll be another trial, I'd be surprised if the AG's office would bother. They've made public comments that "money is not a factor" in the consideration but, fundamentally, it is. The legal expenses, drain on witnesses and jurors, and the fact that it almost certainly won't change what happens to Pickton, all suggest it's not in the public interest to have another trial. I think with respect to the other victims, conviction in the court of public opinion will have to satisfy the families.
Of course, if there isn't another trial, there will likely be strong calls for a public inquiry. Stay tuned.
