Major bowls like the Rose Bowl survive based on traveling fans. That's why when you see a playoff proposal that suggests making each round a different bowl will never happen. The bowls survive because of fans traveling in from around the country and staying for several days, pumping money into the economy.

Positive - my aunt always seemed to get tickets to the Rose Bowl and I thought perhaps she was just lucky. Then I met a friend in law school who hadnt missed a Rose Bowl in 15 years... both of them are residents of Pasadena and get their tickets that way.
As for OSU, theyll make a good appearance and traveled well to Phoenix last year (trust me)... but it's in LSU's back yard... it's going to be a majority LSU crowd - not 90%... but a majority (65-ish). My friends, and administration, from OSU are somewhat concerned about that.
