I can't suggest any resume reviewers/writers but I can put some tips I've found successful:
  • Don't put an objective. It's lame.
  • Don't use the Word Resume template.
  • If you're applying for a technical position, place your skills higher then your work experience.
  • Leave off experience and skills that will not have any bearing on the job you are applying for.
  • Only include skills that you can validate in an interview.
  • Try to keep your resume to one page. If you can't, ensure the most attractive parts are on the first page. Chances are, they aren't going to look at your second page unless the first one is compelling.
  • Use direct language, avoid passive voice. I like to summarize my skills using small sentences that are descriptive ("Developed Web Based CMS using PHP", for instance).
  • Make sure that you avoid ALL exaggerative language.
  • Write a compelling cover letter. This is VERY important.
I hope some people more experienced then me comment. I'd be interested in seeing what other people think about resumes.
