Its a bit hypocritical for Rock to accept the job of hosting them, and then turn around and ridiculing them for what they are.
If he hates them so much....pass on the offer to be the face of the night. Makes no sense otherwise.

Well, its not like Rock was praising the awards before he was hosting, and has reversed his opinions. Its not like the Awards people didn't know who he is, he has tons of material out there to peruse, virtually none of which could be played on cable television.
Why would they think he'd become a totally different person for this one event? I think they knew what they were getting, and wanted it. The members who are calling for his removal aren't the ones planning the event, so it doesn't matter too much what they think at this point.
Given the choice between Rock, Crystal, and Letterman (and Whoopi?) I choose Rock miles ahead of the rest. Crystal and Letterman are funny, but neither have ever made me laugh outloud (except for Letterman's Rupert skits).
