Well, I respect your opinion Cheev, but I couldn't disagree more.
Rock is brilliantly funny, and everything he says here is true. The Oscars are lame, and are pretty much a fashion show. I don't imagine too many beer-swilling jocks are pumped up for a 4.5 hour marathon in front of the TV come Oscar night.
And as for the F-word thing, I think we've discussed it before on here. I don't find it offensive, and while he may use it excessively, it's for emphasis and doesn't in any way serve as a crutch for his humour, which is rich and perceptive. Is he crude sometimes? Hell yes. But my reaction is always "I can't believe he said that, but it's true, so true."
And before somebody jumps on me because they think he's gay bashing, he's not doing that in the least. He's telling it like it is.
Now, all that said, the Academy probably didn't pick the right guy. At least he'll make the show funny for a change. Although from what I saw of Steve Martin last time I watched, I thought he was good.
