I actually think there has been similar junk like this happening for a long time, but now when it is reported it has the chance to be an international story.
This is an Australian story. Before the internet, what are the chances that anyone outside of the local region would have heard about this?
So is this really happening more often, or is the fact that we can hear about it happening anywhere in the world mean it just seems like it is happening more often?
