I agree with phaneuf three, if you can learn diffrent scales and modes, it makes it so much easier to jam with a band, Pick up songs, Improvise/Soloing etc, also play with different tunings another great way to figure out the right pitch, try tuning by ear as much as possible and than use the tuner to see how close you are, eventually you will be spot on.

Guitar Pro 5 you can find it on torrent sites with LOTS of songs with it.
