Zubrus sent packing!
The Sharks hooked up with the Panthers for a quick deal today which saw Danius Zubrus and Brooks Orpik headed to Florida in exchange for Shawn Horcoff and Chris Campoli. There was also a minor pick exchange involved with the Sharks getting a 3rd and sending a 4th the other way.
"Zubrus wasn't performing for us at the level we expected from him" said Sharks GM Ryan, "Horcoff gives us a solid 2-way player who's putting up good numbers in the NHL this season and is leading the much hated Oilers in ice time per game. Campoli is putting up incredible numbers in the NHL at a very young age and is a slight upgrade over Orpik for the time being. We hope he can turn into a top PP QB for us one day."
This appears to be another move in the youth direction for the Sharks as they've recently sent most of their top veteran players packing for younger talent on the verge of breaking out in the CPHL. Whether they hold with what they have now or continue this trend is yet to be seen, but they do have a few more very solid veterans around that could be possible targets for teams looking to make that playoff push down the road.
