Tipping a cabbie is like tipping in a restaurant you never go to -- tip the good ones and stiff the bad ones. If the person does a good job it's a decent thing to give them a few extra bucks for their trouble, even if you don't get anything out of it.
Considering some of the impossibly bad service we get in all sorts of places, I'm happy to tip for good service. Maybe the next guy will get it too, and the one after that and then it'll come all the way 'round back to me.
