Ok, so you're at a restraunt or pub or club...how much do you tip? do you tip at all?
For me, I reward good service, punish bad service. If the waitress/waiter is really good, she gets double the GST and then some...even if the food is average at best, she's the face of the company and it leaves a good impression, deserving some extra money - and likely future patronage.
If she's horrible (too long to come, very inattentive, too long to refill a drink/ask if we need anything [realizing it's relative to how busy it is]), she gets minimal tip - hopefully she'll see it as a hint that she needs to get better...even though I'm now less likely to return. She doesn't get punished for being too attentive, even though it can be annoying.
