I'm very opposed to carbon tradeoffs, very similar to back in the middle ages where it was socially and religiously acceptable to buy your way out of sins in the eyes of God. In reality it just spawned massive corruption on behalf of the church. Coincidence that Al Gore has strong financial stakes in companies that offer carbon offsets for sale? The company could theoretically just take your money without doing anything applicable on the other side with very few people every being able to audit it.
