Good points firefly! I think that the overall size of the kitchen is getting skewed by the photos. I actually have 65 sq/ft of counter including the island. The one wall is 17ft long. Under that entire stretch are pull out drawers. From one side to the other it goes 30", 36", 30" cabinets (each with 4 pull out drawers 2 big 2 small) washer/dryer, 36" sink cabinet, dishwasher and then a small 20" cabinet with one door inside it has 3 shelves (which includes my microwave). In the island there is one cabinet with 2 36" drawers a wine cooler and a 24" cabinet with 3 pull out shelves.
Behind the curtain in the back corner is a closet with full shoe rack, coat rack and four sperate bins (vertically placed) for recycling... paper, cardboard, bottle and cans - just clap your hands. Beside the fridge is a tiny cabinet that hides a built in spice rack and above the fridge is another full recessed area for stoarge.
The upper cabinets are all 4' x 1' x 1'. The only reason the pots are atop the one upper cabinet is that they are a double set (my roomate just moved in with all of his stuff).
the sink is the same size as a double sink. 30" long by 20" (? not sure on that dimesion) and 18" deep. The sink can easily hold a full cookie sheet where you can submerge wash, then rinse (without touching the bubbles) and then place on the built in drying sink run.
I think I have addressed any storage issues in the kitchen and expect similar concerns with the sink. That said it is very functional, you are more than welcome to test cook a meal for me anytime!!!
