I had the opportunity to work closely with Stu, Helen and Bruce Hart when I was in highschool to do a charity wrestling match. Stu was humpbacked and could barely stand up straight, but had the hardest handshake Ive ever had.
I was trained in the dungeon (smaller than one might think) by Bruce Hart with a couple classmates twice a week for 3 months. Bruce scripted the whole thing. Once the weather turned nice, they set up their ring outside and we trained on that. One day, Bruce, myself, my 2 classmates, and our opponents (the three teachers) were going through the routine when the Hitman himself came by the house and tossed us around the ring for 10 minutes.
The whole thing was just wonderful. All the money we raised went to cerebral palsy (one of the grandkids suffers from it). It wasnt apparent to us at the time, but the actual event was on May 23, 2000 - the one year anniversay of Owen's death.
Anyways, I plan to read this book. Bret is a wonderful person and it's sad to hear all the negatives that the Hart family has had to endure over the years.
