AAC and MP3 are both lossy formats, in that when you edit or convert them they lose a lot of quality. This may not be discernible on your laptop or home speakers, but on a school or club system it may very well sound like crap. If you are going to convert be sure to check it on the system at your school well in advance of the event!

###! Back in the day when I sold electronics, you had to have a demo CD ready to go. Guys would have something they made at home from MP3s, and then try and demo $1000 speakers. And then wonder why they lost the sale.

Get the better quality source.
