The point is, the reason why people get into the habit of not signalling is because of aggressive drivers who don't let people make lane changes in front of them.

I encountered this a lot when I lived in Vancouver. If you signal to make a lane change, at least half the time, the drivers in the next lane speed up and tailgate each other to not let you in. There are certain stretches of road in Vancouver (especially Richmond) that during rush hours, hardly anyone bothers signalling anymore because of those attitudes.

Not signalling might be "reatrded" as someone put it, but those habits are usually learned because of having to deal with other idiot drivers.

For the record, I always signal when I make a lane change, but I avoid having to make lane changes by getting the lane I need to be in WELL in advance. I'll drive all the way through a city in the slow lane if I know that is the lane I eventually need to be in. It drives my passengers nuts, but whatever...
