In all fairness, the Chinese, Vietnamese, Koreans and Japanese don't look all that much different from each other. You really can't blame people if they can't tell the difference between the different oriental races... hell, there are some Asians who can't tell the difference between a Chinese and a Vietnamese.
That and also... There are similar last names between many of the Oriental Countries (with the Japanese as an exception), so even by just looking at a name, its hard to tell the difference.
