In Jason Whitlocks 10 truths about the NFL last week he suggested that teams would be better served to trade or let their running backs go who come off rookie contracts and go back to the draft to find another guy who's younger and cheaper. Sort of like what the Colts did with Edgerren James. Heck the Chiefs even did that by accident when they were basically forced to replace Priest Holmes with Johnson. 90% of the time I think that actually would be a good move, only occasionally (LT or Walter Payton, or Barry Sanders would that bite you in the arse). Build a good line and most NFL teams can find a back who can rack up yardage behind that line. Let someone else pay the 28 year old guy who's got a lot of mileage on his body for the work he's done.
