Actually, "The sea is red" is the response.
I think it was at the beginning of the playoffs in 2006(?), someone posted that it would be great if there was some way you could identify other CPers when you're at the games. Some people were saying that they often saw people at games who matched the description of various posters but they didn't want to embarrass themselves by going up to a complete stranger and saying "hey, are you REDVAN?" and having the other person look at them like they were insane.
So, someone suggested the creation of a secret signal that CPers could use to identify themselves to each other. That was when the idea of using the call/response of "the sky is blue"..."the sea is red" was suggested.
If you're walking through the Saddledome and you see someone you think might be another CPer, you say loudly, "the sky is blue". If anyone within earshot is also a CPer, they will respond with "the sea is red" and you will have a new CP friend in real life.
I don't know if anyone has actually ever tried it and/or been successful in identifying another CPer with it.
