I think he needs to calm down and realize the internet is here to stay, and it's up to the networks to make it work. They've run themselves into this situation. A one hour long time slot during prime time now has 19 minutes of advertisements (For those of us keeping score, that's 1/3 of the airtime). How can these networks actually expect people to want to watch that many ads when they can wait until five minutes after the show has ended and download it for free? Maybe it's time to rework the approach.
