For the record, 'pleading the 5th' is american and is about self incrimation. So unless you actually had a part in the crime, it really wouldn't have any relevance. I believe section 13 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is the Canadian version.
Yeah I saw that latter part.

The witness couldn't lie though, right?....I mean if they confess saying that they saw what happened, who did it, etc, etc....technically they could get subpeoned and be forced to confess in court or be in danger of contempt(if they lie in court).

Or something like that.
