The Mets collapse is one for the ages. A 7 game lead on September 12th. The Phillies closed the gap with a 13-4 run. The Mets went 5-12.
The Red Sox have been involved in 3 big collapses that I've seen (two mentioned above). The 1978 Red Sox had a 14 game lead in July, only to lose a 1 game playoff (Bucky F***ing Dent).
The 2004 ALCS exorcised a lot of demons.
I remember watching the Bills come back to beat the Oilers. That was the first game that came to mind after reading the thread title.
