So on the topic of Vista. I work for one of the big two computer manufacturers so I have had some interesting insight on Vista. I also sell servers to the corporate world so I have heard all the complaints. I am a Linux user mainly so I have no reason to defend MS.
1) Yes driver support and software compatibility are big issues. However, Microsoft made Vista available to everyone well before launch so other software companies can adjust there new releases to Vista, a lot of companies didn't even try to see if there software would work they just assumed it would. What sucks for MS is that they get blamed for other companies ineptness...
2) At some point if your a business you are going to have update your software from that program Johnny Dorko wrote you in 1998 for your business, sorry that's a reality.
3) You can run a virtual XP os on Vista that will run everything fine. You just need an XP license to do it.
4) Got an email the other day and MS is extended the date for EOL of XP to June. It was originally going to be done in Jan.
